SoCal CROSS FEVER Series

LATEST SOCALCROSS UPDATE: Coming January 9th 2011!

THE 2011 JANUARY SOCALCROSS FEVER SERIES BEGINS THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 9TH at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut just south of where the 57 meets the 10 freeway.  Now in its 3rd season, the Cross Fever Series began as a way to take the cyclocross to the official end of the cyclocross season which is last week of January 2011 at the CX World Championships 1/29-30.  This three race series will take place in three unique venues, so if you’ve got The Fever, I’d recommend you make the trips.  First up is a brand new venue at Mt. San Antonio College – home of the Mt SAC MTB Classic and numerous cross country running events where some of the race will take place on.  A $700 cash purse will be awarded in elite men, women and singlespeed.  Custom trophies by the Mt. SAC Welding Department will be awarded to all category winners.  Special prizes in Cat 4 for first timers and MTBs.  And a Clydesdale top 3 podium after the 35+ Men’s race will be awarded to the highest place 200+ (or close to) racers.  There is plenty to go around as the first 100 registered riders will receive a cleaning kit from Simple Green!  H2O Overdrive presenting sponsor of SoCalCross will be providing each racer a bottle of their hydration and recovery beverage.  Clif Bar will be providing samples to all.  Coates Cyclery will be on hand and will be providing prizes for our race day drawing.  The San Gabriel bike shops have responded in support of this event including: InCycle, JAX Bicycles, Roy’s Cyclery and Jenson USA.  Cross Fever #1 is a great way to clear out the cobwebs, get the bike tuned up after Nationals and.or Santa Cross or get your taste of the sport.  A free beginner’s clinic will take place at 8:30am with a one-lap review of the CX course.  Demo/rental bikes are available for $10/race.  Weather looks to be a nice cool day in the mid 60’s, so celebrate the real peak of the cyclocross season and hope you can join us for SoCalCross Fever!

A 3-race series pass can be purchased for $75 on race day at Cross Fever #1.

CROSS FEVER RACE #2 – Sunday 1/16 in Bakersfield IS ALSO:
The Hardest Cyclocross Race In California will be held at Hart Park in Bakersfield, Jan 16, 2011. At this event, riders from Nor Cal and So Cal will battle it out… to claim the the California State Cyclocross Championship. Whichever region has the most combined points at the end of the day will take home a six foot tall trophy and bragging rights for the rest of 2011.

Entry: $30 for pre-registered racers, $35 race day ($25 and $30 for single speed). Additional races are just $15. Juniors with a USAC license race for free (non-licensed juniors race for free also but $10 is required to cover insurance costs).

SOCALCROSS FEVER RACE #3 – DAM CROSS Sunday, 1/23!:  For all those who have never raced at Hansen Dam, this is your chance.  This venue has been home to our District Championships in 2007 and UCI races in 2007 and 2008.  We are planning a fun course that is a mix of our designs over the years and trying to make it as challenging, yet enjoyable as possible.  The rocks have been moved from the lower road so we are creating a whole new course and lots of fun!  This is also the Cross Fever Series finale and overall champion medals will be awarded in all categories.

SUPER PRESTIGIOUS RIDE & WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PARTY @ LANGTOWN Sunday 1/30:  Join us for the finale and conclusion of the 2010-11 cyclocross season. This day will be a celebration MTB ride starting from the Langtown aka the Langin’s house for those interested.  We’ll then return to Langtown approx 2:00pm to BBQ-lunch then digest and at approx 4PM our celebratory Langtown Bike Race will roll out complete with whoops, run-ride up and barrier(s).  Bragging rights will be awarded to winners .  The race will be followed by the Best of SoCalCross Awards – Brewmaster, Photo of the Week, Video of the Series, Favorite Race and then a Das Boot toast to our National Championship medalists and Prestige Series Champions.  As the sunsets we will turn on the large screen projector to show our end of season video-slides show and watch the 2011 CX World Championships – elite women and men’s races.

Prestige Series Finale – Santa Cross expecting mud and rain!

Bring your BBQ, Best Brew, Warm portable shower, Bucket and scrub brush! Who's got the hotub???
Hello All,

It is going to be a wet race. We expect mud and more mud.
We will have bike wash ready at the entrance of the race course, but if you have a scrub brush and bucket or a portable washer of your own for the pit, that would be best. Car parking will NOT be allowed on the dirt, but tents are welcomed, so you’ll have to park and carry your team tents in. BBQs are encouraged for potluck. Race registration will be near the medial toy hauler in the parking lot at the race entrance and potties.

Let’s enjoy this muddy day!  First one since 2004 season!

Overall series awards and champion jersey certificates will be awarded along with race day prizes. We will have two awards ceremonies for the day.

10:15am (Youth and Juniors- 12:15pm (wave 2-3) 0 2:15pm (wave 4-5) – Best TEAMs (top 3) and elite men 1/2 and 3 and SS at 3:30pm.

We really appreciate your help tearing down the course and then join us for dinner and a beer afterwards to celebrate our accomplishments!
