Message from Sam Ames… CA CX Championship – Bakersfield (also SoCalCross Fever Race #2):   The final countdown has begun, 4 days to the biggest and richest and BEST Cyclocross race of the season….Nor Cal vs. So Cal State Cyclocross Championships, this Sunday Jan. 16th. at Hart Park, Bakersfield, CA. $5000 in cash on the line!

Party:

Ø This is a race, and boy is it a party…you will be sad if you miss it….bagpipes, marching band, hot racing action, Belgian style “Frites”, Beer tent…with the race going THRU the beer tent! And so much more! Food and drink galore.. AND a flyover ramp to cross the course, whew!

Find out who is the best in CA!  The first annual “Northern California vs. Southern California” State Cyclocross Championships will be held January 16^th. 2011 at Hart Park, Bakersfield, CA.  Cyclocross is a unique form of cycling combining road bike, mountain bike and running skills into one event. This is a first ever event for the state and will be an epic and fun rivalry race not to be missed. The event is hosted by Sam Ames, Race Director and the Kern Wheelmen Bicycle Club.  This event is also part of the SoCalCross Fever Series.  Points will be calculated for both the CA Championship and Cross Fever Series.

The venue is a world class, UCI level course and offers spectators a view of the entire course with super unique challenge to the racers. The course begins with a fast, long road start and transitions into sweeping grass downhill turns followed by long dirt sections into our fly over ramp and “run up” sections which will require good solid running skill and power.

Offering a prize list of over $5000, we are preparing the best and biggest cyclocross race action. Fun beyond the races includes a beer garden, bagpipes, music, food and more.

The goal of the event is to offer both regions of the state, Northern California and Southern California a great cyclocross arena to showcase the talent the golden state has in the sport. Racers, enthusiast and fans can expect an exciting day of racing and enjoyment.

Spectators are encouraged to bring their cowbells, horns and all sorts of enthusiasm to cheer on the racers!
